Year 5 Trip Butterfly Pavilion and VR Experience

On Tuesday 24th March, Year 5, Mrs Oira and myself went on a class trip to Butterfly Pavilion in Haller Park, Bamburi. It was an opportunity to travel along a nature trail and witness the variety of butterfly species found in Kenya. While Butterfly Pavilion can be enjoyed by leisurely walks, we decided that we would rather do a 5km bike ride. In addition to the nature ride, we were given VR headsets, using technology to experience some of the units of work we have studied in Science and Topic since the beginning of the academic year. This included Earth and Space, Kenya and The Americas. There was a little concern regarding the weather before the trip, plus the usual heave and ho of placing bicycles in the school bus (and unloading and reloading them!). It was a thoroughly enjoyable trip and something I definitely would recommend to others.
